The nightmare

It was an afternoon like any other, Chise was under the shade of the leaves of the trees that surrounded her, she was resting and was quietly reading one of the books that Angelica had given her. Reading was one of her new passions, she could dive into a story for hours without stopping. It helped her to get her mind back on her feet when she studied a little too much as she had done earlier in the morning. She had been lying down for a while now and Elias slowly emerged from the bushes next to her.

[Elias]-How are you Chise? May I?

he asked, pointing to the place that was juxtaposed to her.

[Chise]-Yes of course, go ahead!

Elias then sat down beside her and began to read as he used to do. It didn't take long for Chise to put his head on his shoulder to continue reading and he really appreciated this kind of small sign of affection. The day continued until the sun set on the horizon. They had had the opportunity to prepare the meal with Silky and surprisingly, Chise had proposed to Elias to sleep together that night. Of course, he rejected this proposal because every moment in the presence of this Slay Vega was pure happiness. That night, she was a little more quiet than usual, but on the contrary it didn't bother Elias at all. He had the opportunity to run his gloved hand through her shining hair and tenderly rub the end of her muzzle on his cheek. It was getting late and this game had been going on for a while, although Elias was enjoying it very much, he was still tired. So reluctantly he had to tell his beloved that it was time to sleep. Chise agreed and the two fell asleep next to each other. Elias was in a deep sleep when a little click woke him up partially. He didn't feel Chise next to him anymore! He looked forward and saw his little red hair just behind the door. Still in the fog, he rubbed his eyes and said :

[Elias]-Chise? What are you doing up at this hour?

Surprisingly, she replied with a small laugh and he heard her beauty say in a very soft and barely audible voice:

Come, Eliasss, follow me.

And she ran down the stairs. Elias, very surprised by this situation, got up in spite of himself and went down to the ground floor in his turn. The moonlight gave way to natural light that illuminated enough for him to move around and see. Now Chise was outside having left the front door wide open. Elias followed her, still in total incomprehension of the events. He was able to see a small silouhette beside Chise but without being able to distinguish it properly, he decided to move closer. And it is with great surprise that he discovered Stella and Chise, standing there smiling in front of him.

[Elias]-Chise, what...?

He was interrupted by a giggle from his wife.

[Chise]-Hahaha, I was looking forward to that moment!

[Elias]-W...What do you mean?

[Chise]-I'm moving in with my best friend Stella, her parents want me well. I'll always be better off in a human family than with you anyway.

She pronounced these words with such coldness that a shiver ran down Elias' spine. It didn't sound like Chise, what was going on?

Chise]-Having had to endure all this time to live with a monster, it disgusts me! I stayed with you only because you allowed me to live properly! I had a roof over my head, food and everything I needed. I pretended to like you so you wouldn't reject me but every day was a pain. I don't know what you might have thought, but don't get it into your head that I could have loved a monster like you for even a second! I never loved you and I never will!

Chise took the pendant that Elias had given her on the first day of their meeting and threw it violently on the ground. She then kicked it before breaking it. Elias felt his heart squeeze very hard causing unbearable pain. He was now lying on the floor, unable to move and seeing Chise moving away in the distance with Stella.

in a deep and cavernous voice. His room was now filled with brambles, some of them had even pierced the wall. He was in a semi-monstrous shape, his breathing was strong and jerky, he could not calm down. How could Chise have betrayed him like that? It seemed so real and he was in pain. So much pain that it wouldn't be long before he lost control. His door opened violently a few seconds later.

[Chise]-ELIAS! Are you all right? What's going on?

Being less lucid in the midst of all his emotions, he instantly closed the door behind Chise and rushed brambles towards her. She narrowly dodged but the brambles hurt her arm slightly. She let out a small sigh of pain but ignored it. She had to resound Elias at all costs.

[Elias]-I'M HURT is to... to... your fault.

[Chise]-My fault?

she said to herself in her head.

He couldn't take it anymore, he held her chest with both hands as if it was going to explode. His pupils were retracted, smoke was starting to come out of his mouth. Chise did not try to understand any further, ran through the brambles as fast as she could before throwing herself into Elias' arms.

[Chise]-What...what happened to you? I...I don't understand

she says sobbing. She was bleeding a little from her right arm and had a few scratches from the brambles. Elias felt a pinch in his heart when the comforting warmth of his wife came into contact with him.

[Chise]-You can tell me anything, you know, there's no need to get into that state, I just want to understand ...

Seeing Chise like that made him understand for a moment that something was wrong, it wasn't normal. She had betrayed him and now she was there, just against him. While he was still under enormous pressure he still managed to transform himself back to his original form. The redhead was reassured that he was getting better but when she looked at him again and asked what the problem was, her face froze for a moment. She had never seen this expression on Elias' skull before, his pupils were retracted to their maximum and moving irregularly. At the time Chise thought she saw a person crying or scared, and for him it was quite unusual.

[Chise]-You had a bad dream, didn't you?

she asked calmly with a slightly trembling voice. Those words made Elias come out of her thoughts and he realized that his beloved was there, in her arms with scratches all over her body and her right side a little stained with blood. Panicked he replied:

[Elias]-Chise! What... what happened to you?

[Chise]-You really don't remember then?.... Well that night you shouted my name very loudly and some brambles crossed the room with a thud, so that woke me up immediately. I went to see what was going on but you were like out of control and your room was full of branches and brambles. When I joined you I scratched myself a little BUT it's nothing! Don't worry about it. At the moment I am more worried about you... If you want, tell me what happened and it will help you to calm down.

He hesitated for a few seconds and then started:

[Elias]-I dreamt that we were together and then one night when we were both sleeping, you left the house. Once outside you had joined Stella, you told me that you were going to move in with her and then....

Elias paused, it was very difficult for him to remember those words.

[Elias]-.... you told me that I was a monster, that you only lived with me for the comfort that I brought and... that you never loved me. It hurt my chest very much, I almost thought I was going to implode, it was very unpleasant.

When Chise heard her tell her story she understood two things right away. She then gently raised her hand and started to caress the top of her skull.

[Chise]-There, there... everything is fine, it's over now. I also know how painful it can be to hear such words. But above all, they must not continue to haunt you, believe me? It could become much worse later on.

She also understood that if he had reacted the way he did, it was because he cared about her.

Elias looked at her with a slightly detached look.

[Elias]-Do you...do you still like me?

Chise answered him as if he had just said something stupid:

[ Chise ] - Of course I do! Don't be afraid, I will always be at your side and try to forget what you may have seen or heard, it wasn't reality.

A little ashamed he answered:

[Elias]-Yes...yes I'll try.

He noticed the scratches on his body again and then, with a flick of his hand, he made them disappear as if nothing had happened. The warmth it brought him made him feel good and Elias asked him a little embarrassed:

[Elias]-Chise, would you mind spending the rest of the night with me, just to...

[Chise]-No problem, that's what I intended to do anyway, after everything that happened I wasn't going to leave you alone.

she exclaimed with a big smile.

Elias then lay back in the arms of his beloved, who brought him pleasant warmth so that he could go back to sleep again.
